Mutua Josphat is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and one of the founding partners of FM Muteti & Co. Advocates. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Mutua started his legal practice at the firm of FM Muthoga Gaturu & Company Advocates where he amassed immense experience by acting for various insurance companies, banks, and real estate developers among others. He further transitioned to UHY Kenya, where he worked at the firm’s Tax Department where he focused on Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution (TCDR). Mutua is seasoned in Drafting, Litigation & Dispute Resolution. On membership with professional bodies, he a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.

  • Providing legal and Tax advice to a leading Technology Company and successfully representing it at the Tax Appeals Tribunal where upon its tax liability of approximately 60 Million was revised to Nil.
  • Successfully representing individuals in a class action claim against a leading multinational (details withheld) arising from a redundancy procedure where the aggregate Court award was Kshs. 91, 730,000.00.
  • Involved in the team acting for the prison warders charged with various criminal offences relating to the 2021 escape of three terror convicts in Kamiti Maximum Prison.
  • Defending 76 purchasers for value against one of the popular Kenyan land buying and selling company in the Environment and Land Court, Nairobi where the subject matter was valued Kshs. 636,920,000.00.
