Consultant

Peter Makau is a Consultant of the firm. He was admitted to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya in 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Mr. Makau began his legal practice at Mboya Wangong’u & Waiyaki Advocates in 2017 as Legal Assistant and rose to the position of Legal Associate in February 2020.

He has broad and extensive experience in Immigration Law, Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Corporate & Commercial law. He is also a Trade Mark agent. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society. Mr. Makau is a Co-Head in the Immigration and Corporate & Commercial Departments. He is also a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice as well as the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice.

  • Successfully acted for a leading Kenyan Company in an acquisition transaction at regional (COMESA) level.
  • Advised a foreign investor on doing business in Kenya including registration of a special purpose vehicle to undertake the investment
  • I was part of a team that advised a leading Kenyan company on a tender dispute with the Government of Kenya valued at Kshs. 4.5B. This entailed reviewing all contracts and tender documents and advising the Company on the cause of action.
  • Co-counsel in representing a leading Kenyan Company in a commercial dispute valued at Kshs. 100M
  • Advised various Kenyan entities on intellectual property protection and registered over 20 trademarks
  • Advised 3 foreign companies on cross border crypto-currency regulation and drafted for them terms and conditions and GDPR compliant Privacy Policies
