Class G Work Permit in Kenya

Class G Work Permit, also referred to as an Investor Immigration Permit, is issued to foreigners who wish to run a specific trade, business or consultancy in Kenya. This could be a foreign individual, foreign company representative or a foreign national who is a shareholder of in a local or foreign company registered in Kenya. Once granted, this permit allows a foreigner to legally live and work in Kenya.

The Requirements for the Application of Class G Work Permit in Kenya

1. Copy of certificate of incorporation / registration of the employer company or organization.

2. Copy of the Memorandums or registration documents of the company or organization.

3. PIN certificate of the Company / Organization.

4. Copy of current Passport of the applicant.

5. Passport photo of the applicant.

6. Bank Statement of USD 100,000 or equivalent in any currency.

7. Provide a proof of offshore transaction receipt / slip.

8. CV of the applicant.

9. Contact information of both the applicant and the employer. Email addresses, Telephone number, Postal address.

10. Physical address of the company and Residential address of the applicant.

Effective from of 1st January, 2024, the annual application charges for Class G Work Permit were revised from Kshs. 150,000 to Kshs. 250,000. For the avoidance of doubt, an investor can either apply for a one-year permit or two years permit (maximum).

The turnaround time for this application can range from 2 to 6 months depending on the propriety of the documents submitted and the level of facilitation offered. Upon successful application, an Applicant will be issued with a one- or two-year investor permit, which is renewable upon expiry.
